Solbakken Art is an art residency in the south of Norway inviting artists within a wide spectrum of genres to come work creatively in serene and beautiful surroundings, close to the woods and water. Solbakken offers both short and long term residencies, from 1 day and up to 1 year. The residency is owned and administrated by the musicians Synne Sanden and Kim Reenskaug, who also lives and work here. There are also other creative people living permanently at Solbakken, so if you come for a residency you will live under the same roof as other likeminded people.
Currently the studios are best suited for musicians, writers, visual artists and designers, but all artists are welcome to get in contact to figure out of the possibilites. We are also working towards more available studio spaces close by, more suited for stage performers and dancers.
One of the intentions with the residency is to bring together, and create communities between creative people working with different artistic expressions. Solbakken is a social place for creative people, but also a place where you can find as much time and space you need for being alone with your creative projects.
A goal for the residency is to create a safe and healthy plattform to create and live. Here you can enjoy walks in the forest, swims in the lake, relaxing sauna sessions and hot or cold tub baths. Here you can have the time, and possibility to both work uninterrupted, and take care of your body and heart. The residency is supposed to be both a place for creation and recreation.
